Army Day

The army celebrates January 15 as Army Day every year as it was on this day that the first Indian general took charge of the Indian Army. General KM Cariappa (later Field Marshal) took over as the commander-in-chief of the Indian Army in 1949.

The Army Day parade, held at the Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment, is one of the chief highlights of the celebrations. The army chief takes the salute and inspects the parade led by the General Officer Commanding, HQs Delhi Area. The other two service chiefs also attend the parade every year and take salute. This parade is also a part of the Republic Day

2. Apart from the three service chiefs, India’s first chief of defence staff General Bipin Rawat will also attend the parade this year and take salute. Rawat took charge as CDS on December 31. He heads the department of military affairs and is also the principal military adviser to the defence minister on all matters related to the tri-services.
A lady officer will be the Parade Adjutant for the first time in the history of the parade. A fourth generation soldier, Captain Taniya Shergil was commissioned into the Corps of Signals two years ago. The parade adjutant plays an important role in directing and conducting the parade.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 AND NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

Description

A New Year's resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behaviour, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life.

New Year's is a great opportunity to teach kids how to set goals. We as parents can help them learn new skills and deal with the outcome if they fall short of their goal. But don't just tell your kids to set goals on their own. We should create a resolution together so we can provide guidance and support along the way.
Top 7 New Year's resolutions according to a survey of 2,000 people last year :
2. Exercise more (65 percent)
3. Lose weight (54 percent)
4. Save more and spend less (32 percent)
5. Learn a new skill or hobby (26 percent)
7. Spend more time with family and friends (13 percent)
