Students of class v studied the chapter Plants and performed hands on activity to learn the structure of seed by soaking green gram seeds on cotton.
Students performed second activity on conditions needed for seed germination by placing seeds germination under different conditions as Seeds in cotton without moisture ,Seeds in cotton submerged in water, seeds in moist cotton in deep freezer and seeds in cotton with sufficient moisture at the window sill of class.
To learn vegetative propagation students brought potato and ginger to see nodes, internodes and scale leaves on them ,finally concluding that they are underground stems that store food .
Students visited school play ground to see samples of tap roots with netted venation leaf and fibrous roots with parallel venation.Students recognized specimens of monocot seeds as fenugreek and dicot seeds as mustard and coriander seeds. These seeds were planted in plastic pots to observe day wise growth in seeds by measuring them with scale. Students will also see their leaf venation ,when they will germinate and grow .
