Uses and Abuses of Science Cass V Bulletin board

Students of V  A prepared a bulletin board on the topic -Uses and Abuses of Science and Technology. They focussed the various machines made by man to make life comfortable but at the same time, the atom bomb and pollution created due to the advancement of science and technology is harming man.

Students made poster and wrote message to develop awareness to save humanity and nature. 

VA lab activity .distilled water does not conduct electricity whereas Salty water conducts electricity (23.11.2019)

Students of VA observed that the LED bulb in the circuit does not glow when the ends of the circuit are dipped in distilled water. When salt is added to the water the LED bulb glows. When the salt concentration increases The bulb glows more brightly.

This activity was followed by learning that the Human body is a conductor of electricity. Students learnt the various precautions to be followed while working with electricity. Students surveyed the danger warning signals on their floor.

MIME Interschool Event Suncity, Gurugram (22.11.2019)

Students of DAV  Pushpanjali participated in interschool competition MIME at Suncity Gurugram in both the individual  category and as a group. 

Pravar of Class V  A bagged  first position in Rhapsody -Divergent Thinking 

Jingle with Mingle. He prepared the Jingle  on the spot and presented it .CONGRATULATIONS!  TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS .

LIBRARY WEEK - WORKSHOP BY IRA SEHGAL

Vocabulary Enhancement  Workshop was organised in the DAV Pushpanjali School by Ms Ira Sehgal. She made the students play games. They played games to write twenty-five words with BA. A game based on adjectives and a game to name words with the last alphabet of the previous word.

ACIDS AND ALKALI IN FOOD ITEMS (RESEARCH ACTIVITY USING BEET ROOT INDICATOR ) CLASS VI A 19.11.2019

Students of VI A performed a research activity to test  daily life food items for their acidity and alkalinity . Students in groups tested that soap solution is alkaline and soda is acidic .

Acidic food items in large concentration  cause headache, mood swings   in people .

Students also explained neutralization reaction to cancel the acid  effect in tooth decay ,indigestion to reduce acidity using an alkali   as Calcium hydroxide reducing acidic effect in soil and lakes .

Hand on activity class V A CIRCUIT , CONDUCTOR , INSULATOR

Students of class VA made an electric circuit using wire, Led bulb , battery. They tested a variety of objects by keeping in the circuit to check if the bulb glows in the circuit or not. If the bulb glows the material kept in the circuit to bridge the gap is a conductor. If the bulb does not glows the material kept in the circuit to bridge the gap is an insulator.
Students could explain why the bulb in the circuit is lit .

ACID AND ALKALI CLASS VI (activity)

Students of class VI A  performed an activity to detect acid and base using litmus paper .Students performed with assistance of  Gopal sir  in Chemistry laboratory .Students learnt blue litmus changes red in acid . Red litmus changes blue in alkali .

 Litmus is a water-soluble mixture of different dyes extracted from lichens.Lichens are a complex life form that  partnership of two separate organisms, a fungus and an alga. 

Students  also performed activity with Phenolphthalein  indicator .Phenolphthalein   turns colorless in acidic solutions and pink in basic solution.

Neutralization reaction was shown to students where acid effect is cancelled by base .
